What is the Tru Temp® 2nd Gen Blackening Process?

     Using a simple blackening process, Tru Temp® 2nd Gen will provide a high-temperature quality coating, while operating at only 200 – 210°F. The operator-friendly solution is easy to manage and contains no EPA-regulated ingredients, so the solution can be neutralized and sent to city sewers. 

Typical black oxide process outline:   

  1.     Clean oil and grease using alkaline soak cleaner

Ø  Safe Scrub ST or Presto Kleen HP for 7 - 15 minutes

Ø  Fresh water rinse

  1.     Light acid soak to condition surface

Ø  Oxyprime XPL for 0 – 7 minutes

Ø  Fresh water rinse

  1.     Black Oxide, 200 – 210F

Ø  Tru Temp® 2nd Gen for 15 – 30 minutes

Ø  Fresh water rinse

  1.     Seal and protect with choice of oily or dry to the touch top coat

Ø  Example: Dri-touch IRP3 for 2 minutes

Neutralize Tru Temp® 2nd Gen In 2 Easy Steps:

With this solution being the safest on the market, we knew it was essential that it could be neutralized and sent to a sewer. Our Tru Temp® 2nd Gen does not contain any EPA-regulated ingredients and only requires 20% of the acid other neutralizing processes require. 

Disposal Process:

  1. Slowly add phosphoric or citric acid, while stirring
  2. Monitor pH, continue adding until it reaches acceptable discharge range (typically pH 7-11)
  3. Discharge to sewer
